I pay them premiums but I am not insured.

I own a second home Condo in Lake of Ozarks. I pay dues for property insurance. The Association bylaws state they are my agent. Recently there was a plumbing problem. My unit had no damage but I was being assessed $10,000 for a deductible. Everyone agrees no negligence on my part. I asked Am Fam about the deductible. I was told the Association Board is a customer but I am not. I have no claim. The Board received money-they had no damage. I told them I wasn’t paying a deductible because I had no claim and am not insured. I was not back down for 6 weeks. My condo has $40,000 of property damage, items missing, and unlawful entry. No notification. The Am Fam adjustor and Association apparently were trying to find water damage. They now admit to not finding any nor mold. Am Fam mails me back one of the stolen items. I get another bill for the deductible but $0 for the damage they did. I can’t file a claim without pushing for the Board to get charged or hire an attorney to sue. I have proof of everything here. My insurance is stepping up to the plate and will pursue actions but I have a legitimate deductible. I am pissed!

American Family Insurance Sucks. I hate them so very much.

Left those *** sucking *** hole con artists for USAA. USAA treats everyone with respect and dignity, especially current and retired military personnel. American Family Insurance has no integrity or a conscious. Their commercials are absolutely awful and completely false.

They are not on the side of the consumer. All they care about is lining their pockets with our hard earned money. God forbid you try and make a claim with them, they draw it out and don't pay on it. They tell you go ahead and sue us, we've got hundreds of lawyers and investigators that will wear you down until you finally give up and in the end you'll go broke before we will.

There is a special place in *** for that company and its employees. We should all join together and file a class action lawsuit against them and really make them pay.

Avoid American Family Insurance at all costs, they truly suck *** On a side note, how do we get those stupid commercials off the air. Jennifer Hudson should really investigate what companies she endorses.

Stay away from these jerks. They need your money for things like putting their name on Miller Park.

Shady Practices

After having my FINANCED vehicle for about 1.5 years (to which I was under the impression I had full coverage on, because that's what my agent sent the dealership prior to me driving off the lot, because, you know, that's the LAW), I got a crack in my windshield so I called to find out what my comp deductible was. Once the agent pulled my account info, she informed me that I only had liability. UMMM what? I informed her my car was financed and asked her how they would've let me drive off the car lot with just liability. That is when she informed me that the agent who put together my policy WAS FIRED FOR DOING THIS TO OTHER PEOPLE. She would send a full coverage binder to the dealership, but then reduce coverage without the client's knowledge. So, AmFam was aware she was doing this, fired her, and DIDN'T CONTACT HER OTHER CLIENTS TO INFORM THEM THAT THIS MAY HAVE HAPPENED TO THEM. So, I told her I need full coverage ASAP. Fast forward a couple months: I'm in a collision. It's ruled my fault (even though the adjuster never took pictures or asked for traffic cam footage). I still only have liability even thought at this point, the agency KNEW I had requested a full coverage policy due to their negligence. My car isn't covered and I'm screwed. I filed a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner and AmFam basically responded with "Sorry, can't help" and the Commissioner basically said they can't, either. This is how you conduct business? I'm only in this situation because my policy was changed WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE, and they have taken zero accountability.

Rate increases every 6months no matter what

Ive had american family insurance for a little over 2 years and my premium has gone up atleast $150 and the only claim ive had is for comprehensive for hitting a raccoon and needing a new bumper. I recently denied a merger within company and not even a week later from checking the denial boxes, my rates went up again.

They tell me its because of cancellation letters. If you do pay on due date, they cancel you which they say makes your rate go up.

I got tired of it and left. Nothing family about them unless you use to dealing with a dysfunctional family.

Horrible horrible horrible. All they want to do is raise your rates every 6 months and you don't even get anything more.

No accidents no claims no nothing always pay on time and they still want to raise her rates. Very Bad Company

Very bad service

My agent is a very rude and very bad attitude person. When I have something that I don’t understand to need ask her, she always let me contact company directly , never explain my issues. What I can't stand is that I asked her some questions that I don't understand. She even hung up my phone unreasonably. I can't understand how such a person can be an agent! I have switched my insurance company because I can’t stan her bad attitude!!!

AmFam reorganization lets executive team be more risky with policy owner assets

Policy owners had a vote in 2017 to reorganize the structure of the company. Prior to this, the policy owners, owned and controlled the company. Now policy holder assets can be invested in "new" and riskier ventures. The Executive team has total control of assets, unrestricted by Wisconsin law that restricted investment in risky business ventures. After over 40 years as an owner and customer, I have left American Family. I encourage others to do the same. Let the Executive team live with the consequences of their choices. Make sure you do not fooled. It is not the same company. The above complaints about this company will increase, and their attempt to "scrub" their reputation on the Internet, does not erase the truth.

Run around with balance HORRIBLE

So i was told by my agent that it was okay to have my bill paid late since the money was in my account but on hold. I went back online to pay again and all my information was gone.

I called them and they said instead of onlu paying the $183 that i pay every month, that in prder to keep my insurance active, i needed to pay $557. I explained how i spoke with an agent and they said "okay we spoke with billing, they agreed to let you pay $183 now and $183 plus $25 fee by the 7th.

Today is the 6th, i go online to pay and my accounts are now completly gone, so i called and now they are saying once again that even tho i paid $183 2 weeks ago i still need to pay $374 by today to keep it active or it will be cancelled..They are a *** *** company and ive been with them since 2015! Absolutely horrible!!

I was burglarized may 2018. The lady i spoke with made me out like i made it up. Questioned everything including what type of dog i own. They want receipts and proof of everything. Gave us 60 days which seems like a lot of time until you work every day, have family obligations, along with everything else life throws at you. They claim we ignored their calls so they werent able to get statements which is false. My wife did a statement and i was the one that gave them her number, i never heard back from them. On April 7th 2018 my wife was leaving the parking lot of a McDonald's in Fountain Colorado when a driver insured by American Family Insurance backed out and hit the rear left quarter panel of my car they were quick to take a report and act like it would be no problem to pay for the damage but three weeks later after multiple calls and no return calls they denied the claim saying their driver was not at fault how they came to this conclusion I do not know since all photographic evidence clearly shows the only way my car could have been hit was by another car coming sideways into it. Now my insurance company has to take them to court and prove that they were wrong and just listen to there driver who obviously was lying.

Don't believe a thing they say they just deny everything and get nasty about it the insurance adjuster that it's supposably investigated it was on vacation the whole time the investigation was supposed to be going on that's why I got no calls Snakes in the Grass if there ever was any.

My insurance company said it could take two years to get my deductible back unless I sue the other driver in small claims court for the deductible. So I guess at this point I have no choice but to do that or wait two years to get my deductible back because photographic evidence clearly shows that my car was hit in the side rear quarter panel

Had the same problem being hit by an AF driver into my left side. Claim was under investigation for 4 weeks, no one called.

They finally accepted liability and I still have to pay my $$ 500 deductible when my car is done since my insurance co had to step in. Who knows when I get my deductible back. And yes they waited that long so they would not have to pay for a rental car for me since I did not have rental coverage thru my insurance.

Who has $ 500 sitting around? I would never go with them .

They DUMPED ME

Had AFI for 21 years. only 3 claims over that period, others hit me.

several years ago I was forced to file bankruptcy due to financial setbacks.

Out of the clear blue sky, they cancelled my policy with out explanation. Later found out that they cancelled me due to the bankruptcy. *** of a thing to do to a customer in good standing. Agent was surprised as well. Sent a letter to the company president....no reply. Apparently 21 years of loyalty mean nothing to them.

Naturally by them dumping me, this caused other insurance Co's to refuse to cover me. Had to pay a lot more money for coverage. This caused a further hardship money wise. Have to have insurance, House 4 children and wife and this left me,the insurance didn't care.

Once called to buy car insurance for a new Honda CR-V . The customer service rep yelled at me and told me she needed to add my sister and brother in law into my policy because we were living in the same home even though each one had their own car and no one else drove my car. I hanged up and bought My car insurance with a big known insurance company.

Terrible claim service

My vehicle was hit by one of their insured and my insurance company found their driver 100% at fault. The back passenger side door was hit so hard that it is jammed shut. The driver of the other vehicle did not report a claim until my Insurance carrier contacted American Family. Total waste of time!! American Family did not investigate the claim and determined it was word for word, siding with their driver who didn't even report the accident to them. What a bunch of BS!! I hope I never have to deal with this company or any of its drivers again!

Ask them folks in Coon Valley, Wisconsin who were told by there agent's they did not qualify for flood insurance . Than when they submitted claims for storm and water damage. Were all told - sorry, ain't going to help you with anything.

Treated like it’s my job

I was rear ended by someone with American Family Insurance back in February. My car was totaled and I was injured.

They were quick settling my car issues, but here it is in July and I am still receiving endless calls and emails from American Family asking ME to call around and collect information about how much I was charged and who has received payment. I have sent in all injury paperwork and bills from all providers already, and I fail to understand why I have to be the one to continue to call around and ask who has been paid for what.

American Family has done nothing with this injury claim but pass their job off on me out of laziness. I am not impressed, can’t wait to be done dealing with them, and hope to all things I’m never hit by one of their clients again.
