Resolved: American Family Insurance - American Insurance JD Parry office spins off new Brokerage, Customers rates go SKY HIGH!
Filed formal complaints with the State Insurance Commission, BBB of Utah - Cancelled my policy.
Originally I had started my Policy with American Family Insurance - JD Parry Brokerage at 3848 Washington Blvd. Have had it for approx.
3 years. Now I accidentally find out that my "Brokerage" has changed- to "Platinum Insurance" with a guy named Russ Parry - who claims to be at the same address (see Online)- but then has a totally different address in a different location. Without any notification whatsoever - my Auto policy goes up by $38 per month - I have great credit and no problems - There was nothing sent in the mail or email notifying me of any of this- NO NOTIFICATION AT ALL stating my Broker had changed or my policy increased!! As usual my online bill pay went out month after month (3-months )accordingly to the monthly amount.
In January 2018 - I stopped the online bill pay and sent a check to the company "Nationwide"- When I checked up on if they received it- There was a problem. I found out that the Brokerage had not only changed their name but increased my policy by a hefty amount. Three months into the shady unethical change. I called the โPlatinum Insurance Brokerโ and the manager Alex Pena gave me the song and dance โ there had been a rate change in the areaโ - Honestly!
What really happened - is this local American Family Insurance JD Parry and his family member Russ Parry started a new "Brokerage" then conveniently split up the clients and the โnew Brokerageโ -then upped THOSE customers premiums to make more money - Brokers always get paid on the bi- annual premiums of your policies. Brokers know exactly what is being done - It is unethical and sneaky backdoor practices. They are aware of the language to use when this happens and they get angry customers calling in - Conveniently - they will explain away โthere was an increase in the area - SAD that these Brokers donโt understnd when they advertise - โThey are a โtrusted insurance brokerโ but then do this to the customer - and it causes financial distress and huge liability as the vehicle is now / becomes under insured- THEIR REPUTATION IS MUD! I do not trust them to not let this happen again.
They will do it again.
Your disgusting practices just cost your customer an additional $300 because you FAILED to notify. Its very underhanded business practices at best.
NOW - I am delinquent to Nationwide by 3 months plus owe a huge amount for the increase in policy to my disgust while I was waiting to talk to the manager that day - another customer called in and spoke to Stephanie (Agent)- he was complaining that his premium went up and it came out of his auto bill pay with no NOTICE - I listened to her explain to "Roberto" the same song and dance - canned line of BS Alex Pena gave me - Oh- there was a rate increase in your area -
Reason of review: Bad quality.
Monetary Loss: $280.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
American Family Insurance Cons: What happened to jd parry amfam, Unethical practices.

I agree with the original poster. the company had every responsibility to notify the policy holder of an increase in cost. i have been with state farm my entire driving life and have always gotten notifications of any changes well ahead of time so that i could make proper adjustments for them.
Price increases are a fact of life ; your option is to vote with your wallet and find another insurance company - and if you shop around, be polite and don't browbeat your crummy current company because it just makes you sound bad.
